Substitute Positions for Head Start
(10 positions available)
POSITION SUMMARY
Head Start is always looking for qualified substitutes at our various locations in the six-county service area. Click here for Head Start locations. Our pay is competitive, and we offer a fun place to work with children, to make a difference in their lives and in our communities.
Across the six-county service area, positions needed are approximately 10 substitute bus drivers, 12 substitute teachers and 12 substitute paraprofessionals.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
General requirements of all substitutes:
• Background study
• Tuberculosis test
Specific requirements by position are below.
Bus driver:
• Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with passenger endorsement
• Department of Transportation (DOT) physical
• Department of Human Services background study
• Pre-employment drug screening.
• Driving Record Check
Teacher:
• Minimum AA degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Child Care Careers
• Other degrees/credentials would be considered
• Prior experience working with children in a childcare setting, minimum 3 months
Paraprofessional:
• high school or GDA
HOURS
Daytime hours but varied by position. Head Start classrooms are open Monday-Thursday from September-May.
