Semcac executive director resigns

Terry Erickson, executive director of Semcac, tendered his resignation at the Semcac Board of Directors' meeting held on February 8. Erickson has served as the organization's top executive since October 2004. The human service agency has a workforce of over 240 employees and serves an 11-county area in Southeast Minnesota.

Erickson helped guide the organization through a devastating flood in August 2007 that ruined the administrative office, its senior dining site and an apartment building in Rushford. Under his guidance he helped rebuild two of these facilities, with the apartment complex to be rebuilt in fall 2010. The agency also took a lead role in flood recovery efforts in the region, administering several programs that helped flood victims.

Erickson's last day will be April 30. He has no firm plans for the future and looks to enjoy time in Tucson with family and says he plans more bike trips to the Black Hills. He stated that he will miss his job, especially his faithful department directors who stayed with him through the tough times. More recently the agency has been asked to step up to assist in economic recovery efforts by weatherizing many more homes in the region and delivering additional outreach and emergency services.
