Local cooperative encourages donations

TEC's Brenda Tesch (left) delivered a supply of CFLs to Semcac's Outreach Services Director Wendy Todd.

Tri-County Electric Cooperative (TEC) has joined with local food shelves in a campaign to increase donations during March--Minnesota FoodShare Month. The cooperative is giving energy efficient compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs) to its members that make a cash or food donation to food shelves participating in the Minnesota FoodShare campaign in Fillmore, Houston and Winona counties.

“Although many in our area gave generously during the holidays, by early March shelves at local pantries are often empty once again,” said Brenda Tesch, TEC public relations director.

TEC members have received a coupon with their March electric bill that instructs them to bring the coupon with a donation to a participating food shelf to redeem it for a free CFL. Semcac's food shelves in Caledonia, Preston and Rushford are participating. Thank you to Tri-County Electric Cooperative for this innovative way to help the communities it serves!
