About Semcac Meals on Wheels

Semcac Meals on Wheels serves people in 8 Southeast Minnesota counties: Dodge, Fillmore, Freeborn, Houston, Mower, Olmsted, Steele and Winona.

Meals on Wheels program info:

For anyone age 60+ years who is confined to their home, or anyone unable to prepare a balanced meal. Spouses are automatically included as eligible regardless of age. Meals are prepared at Semcac Senior Dining sites or catered, depending on what is available in the area being served. Volunteers deliver the meals to recipient’s home. Recipients are given the opportunity to donate toward the cost of the meal. No one is denied a meal because of an inability to contribute. Food Stamps/ EBT, debit and credit cards or checks are welcome.

FAQs

Anyone age 60 and over and who is confined to their home or unable to prepare a balanced meal. Spouses are automatically included regardless of age. The service, facility and benefits of this program are for the use of all older people regardless of race, color, sex, religion, disability or national origin.

Meals are prepared at the Senior Dining sites or catered from a hospital, nursing home or restaurant, depending on which is available in the area being served. Volunteer coordinators along with volunteer drivers and deliverers are responsible for carrying out the program in each community. Volunteers deliver the meal to your door.

Recipients are given the opportunity to donate toward the cost of the meal. Donation letters are mailed out each month for the previous months’ meals. No one is denied a meal because on inability to contribute. Food Stamp EBT, debit and credit cards are welcome.

Semcac Senior Dining receives federal and state funding under a contract with the Southeastern Minnesota Area Agency on Aging. Local contributions from counties, cities, United Way agencies, and business and individual donations, including participant donations, are vital for the program’s continuation as well.

Mobile Meals in the City of Owatonna: A program for seniors age 60+ years who are unable to prepare a balanced meal, pay $6.00 per meal (unless they qualify for waivered meal costs) and meals are delivered to the senior’s home by volunteers. Call 507-455-3195.
