Head Start – Family Service Advocate – Austin
JOB STATUS: Head Start is hiring a full-time Family Service Advocate.
LOCATION: Austin, MN
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:
- Successful completion of the Family Services Credential within 18 months of employment at Semcac Head Start. Training provided by Head Start.
- CPR and First Aid certification or willingness to obtain.
What You’ll Do:
- Build relationships with families and help them set and reach individualized goals
- Connect families to community resources, supports, and opportunities
- Partner with classroom staff to ensure each child’s needs are supported holistically—socially, emotionally, and developmentally
- Maintain accurate documentation and support compliance with federal Head Start performance standards
- Be a cheerleader, navigator, and compassionate ear for families navigating life’s ups and downs
What We’re Looking For:
- A heart for advocacy and a head for organization
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Experience in human services, social work, or early childhood settings preferred
- Ability to build trust with diverse families and honor their strengths and cultures
- Knowledge of local community resources is a big plus!

COMPENSATION: $18.35-$22.02/hr. Higher starting rates are available for those with 10 or more years of direct experience and a bilingualism differential.
