Semcac’s Head Start program provides comprehensive early childhood education and family support services to pregnant women, children from birth to age five, and their families. We focus on school readiness by nurturing children’s cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development through engaging, research-based learning experiences. In addition to high-quality classroom instruction, we offer health screenings, nutritious meals, developmental assessments, and individualized support to ensure every child has a strong foundation for lifelong learning.
Head Start is designed for income-eligible families, including those experiencing housing instability, foster care placement, or other life challenges. We partner closely with parents and caregivers, recognizing them as their child’s first and most important teachers. By supporting the whole child and the whole family, Head Start helps break the cycle of poverty, strengthens communities, and ensures that every child—regardless of circumstance—has the opportunity to thrive.
