A local group that makes sure everyone can get where they need to go, regardless of health or finances is responding to growing demand for its services.
Semcac celebrated a groundbreaking Monday in Kasson for a new transit building.
The facility will house its Rolling Hills bus service, the dispatch center, and management offices with space for meetings and a bus wash bay too.
Eighty percent of the funding for the project is coming from MnDOT, with the other 20 percent from local matching dollars.
The group chose Kasson because of its location along Highway 14 between Owatonna and Rochester.
“I think over the next 20 years we’ll see an explosion of traveling and we’re going to go right along with that, and be part of what’s happening in the area,” said Wayne Stenberg, Semcac Executive Director. “I think it’s going to be a great fit. And we want to make sure that we offer the best services to the people.”
Semcac expects the building to be completed by June of next year.
