Successful Auction Aids Senior Dining Program- Tri-County Record

However, the program recently had its own need as it sought funds to replace its commercial-grade freezer. The move will support a growing partnership with Hiawatha Valley Mental Health Center; Semcac Clinic and Semcac’s Winona County office will be moving from the current location in downtown Winona to the Hiawatha Valley Mental Health Center (HVMHC) building. The drive is sponsored by Open Your Heart to the Hungry and Homeless and Hunger Solutions. As member of Hunger Solutions Minnesota, Semcac is eligible to receive a percentage of grant funds designated for this challenge. Healthy AIR program removes hazardous insulation, paves way to weatherization for low-income households

October 12, 2018 For years, many homes that qualified for weatherization services in Minnesota couldn’t receive those services because of vermiculite insulation in the attic. Weatherization crews or contractors could not work on a home until the hazardous material was removed. This year, thanks to the Healthy AIR (Asbestos Insulation Remediation) pilot program, many of these homes and low-income homeowners are getting the help they need—to both remove the vermiculite insulation and weatherize their homes. “This has been a chronically underserved population for years,” said Peter Gens, field monitor for the Weatherization Assistance Program, who administers the Healthy AIR program. KASSON, Minn.- A non-profit organization is breaking ground on a new transit building in Kasson. The Southeast Minnesota Community Action Agency, or SEMCAC, tells KIMT they have seen an uptick in the growing need for affordable transportation in the region. The organization offers rides to seniors, medicaid recipients and kids. The new construction will allow everything to be under one roof.
