Semcac will Operate Local Bus Service Starting Jan. 2, 2014
Semcac will begin operating Stewartville’s local bus service on Jan. 2, 2014. So says Erlene Welshons, transportation director for the nonprofit community action agency. The new bus, to be known as “Rolling Hills Transit,” will be available Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and will offer rides at the exact rates previously charged by the city of Stewartville, which oversaw the operation of Grisim School Bus’s Heartland Express Bus, Welshons said. Those rates include: • $1.50 per ride one way within the city of Stewartville. • $3 per ride one way outside the city limits. • $5 per ride one way into Rochester, and $10 for a round trip to Rochester and back. • $10 for a one-way trip to the Rochester International Airport. Welshons said that Semcac is looking forward to serving the residents of Stewartville. “We’re hoping to be able to provide the same type of service Stewartville has been receiving for 25 years,” she said. Semcac, which also oversees the lunch program at Stewartville’s Center of Active Adults, has managed transportation systems for 40 years…” For more on this story pick up your copy of the Nov. 19 Stewartville STAR. 11/18/2013 10:57:00 AM Mark Peterson |
