Semcac Food Shelves Participate in MN FoodShare in March

Annual MN FoodShare, March Campaign Some people face food insecurity every day, while others struggle after an unexpected expense or decrease in income.  Hunger can lead to poor health or illness in addition to poor performance at school or work.  During 2016, Semcac food shelves in Rushford, Preston, Caledonia, and Kasson had 7,936 visits from 1,343 households and distributed 377,841 pounds of food. Clients are also provided with information and referrals to other community services. Semcac Reports to Mower County – How it is helping community

Leaders with Semcac spoke during the board’s regular meeting to outline the impact its agency is having on seniors, children and families in Mower County in its fiscal 2015 year from Oct. 1, 2015, through Sept. 30, 2016.   Thank you to the Masons, Lodge #20 for all their help! And, thank you to Schmitz busing for donating the use of the bus and driver! There are a variety of community groups arranging to help with the event, as well, including the Caledonia Lions Club, Caledonia Rotary, etc. Thrivent Financial encourages members to use an action grant to buy food, as well.
