Community Action Reaches the 50 Year Milestone

Nationally, Community Action Agencies have been helping people for 50 years, in 2014! On August 20, 1964 in Washington, DC, President Lyndon B. Johnson signed the Economic Opportunity Act (EOA). The EOA created a variety of programs, including Community Action Agencies, to help address the War on Poverty. Semcac was one of those agencies established to address local poverty problems in rural, urban and suburban communities across the country. Free health screening offered in Rushford Fillmore County Public Health (FCPH) and Semcac are partnering to host a low-cost blood pressure, cholesterol and glucose screening on Wednesday, April 16, 2014 from 7:30 to 9:30 AM at the Tenborg Center in Rushford. The cost of the screening is $11.00 and due at the time of service.
